Is it really 2011 already?? I am not one for resolutions or reflections but 2010 was definitely a busy and life changing year.
It’s only 6 days into the new year and already I somehow feel behind. Our Christmas decorations are still up (we were out of town with 2 kids under 3 for 11 days and I am still trying to recover from that) and my daughter’s 3rd birthday party is less than a month away and oh yeah, there is Valentine’s to decorate for. Just typing that all out gives me anxiety! But instead of working on any of that I’ve been playing with Mod Podge and decor for R’s bedroom. While we were in Florida I picked up some beautiful Lilly Pulitzer wrapping paper. I don’t know if I’ve told you but I {HEART} Lilly!! Like seriously {HEART}! Last year I had covered these Paper Source Craft letters with 2 different Lilly paper’s but I was never really happy with them. (please excuse the pictures, the walls are a really pale seafoam green and it does not photograph well, for me at least)
So instead of unpacking or doing laundry or putting together any concrete ideas or plans for the party, I recovered the letters! Here is a quick how to!
Materials needed:
- Craft letters (mine where from here)
- Mod Podge ( I used matte finish)
- foam brush
- Scissors (I used my Honey Bee detailing scissors)
- Paper to cover (I used this wrapping paper)
- Optional – Paint & paint brush for sides
- (optional) paint the sides and about 1/2″ of the top edges of all the letters (2-3 coats), let dry
- Place letters face down on the wrong side of your paper and trace each letter
- Cut the letters out
- Apply a medium coat of mod podge to the face of the letters. Working quickly apply the cut out paper to the top of the letters smoothing out any bubbles that occur. With drying a LOT of the bubbles will disappear
- Let letters dry for at least an hour. This step is VERY important, do not skip it! (even though I hate waiting for things to dry)
- Apply a thin layer of Mod Podge as a top coat. Let dry 30-45 minutes and apply a 2nd layer is desired
- Enjoy your letters!
In case letters weren’t enough, I was walking through the craft aisle at Walmart and found this nice and large 5×7 picture frame that was in need of some {kinda} crafty love. So I decided to Mod Podge it as well! I am not fully finished with it, but here are the pictures so far.

I also LOVE Lilly! In fact, I had a couple pairs of Lilly pants and a Lilly skirt made into a really cute patchwork bag (of course I did this after the clothes were too small). People compliment me on that bag all the time and I love knowing that it is one of a kind. Cute cute cute letters 🙂
Very Cute! I also had a long vacation and still have Christmas up! I can’t wait until the work week is over so I have time to take it down. 😉

Sooo cute! I LOVE all things Lilly Pulitzer!!
Super cute letters! Love the Lilly print, too. Is your daughter’s name pronounced like Ree-gan or Ray-gan? My daughter and I both have Regan as our middle names…pronounced like Ray-gan.
Stacy I don’t know how you find the time to make all these cute things! You are a very talented crafter.
Do you put the picture face down, or do you put it normally?
