Taking a little break from the Ice Cream, Cupcakes, & Pie of the 4th of July preparations to bring you the exciting new that my sister-in-law had a baby boy a couple weeks ago! That brings the cousin count up to 8 and my older daughter is just thrilled beyond belief! We got the chance to iChat with baby Bailey a couple times last week and he is just the cutest little guy. So with his cuteness in mind I went to work on my sewing machine and whipped him up 3 special burp cloths. It always pains me to cut into a fresh yard of coveted fabric, but he is definitely worthy of my Ann Kelle and Gator fabrics! I hope he enjoys spitting up on them as much as I enjoyed making them for him!
Using pre-folded organic cotton burp cloths you can pick up in almost any baby section, these colorful burp cloths are easy to make.
Cut a piece of fabric the width of the middle panel plus 1.5″ inches and as long as the burp cloth plus another 1.5″ for seams, along with 2 pieces of jumbo ric rac the length of your cloth.
Fold the raw edges 1/4″ and iron and then another 1/2″ and iron – all the way around.
Pin the ric rac half way under the folded edged and top sew all the way around using a tight seam allowance.
Bam, you’re done, let the spitting up commence.

These are adorable! I’m constantly looking for more cute baby boy ideas and these are perfect.

Do you wash the material and burb cloths first?
Stacy says
You should always pre-wash, just to account for the shrinkage in fabrics!
