We recently traveled back to Minneapolis (where Mr. Kinda Crafty and I met – even though we are both from Florida) to attend the wedding of my cousin! Her and her husband met while attending the University of Minnesota, so it was very fitting that they hosted their rehearsal dinner at the TCF Bank Stadium on the campus of the University of Minnesota. It is a brand new stadium (2-3 years old) with all the amazing bells and whistles that come along with new construction. They have several different club levels which can play host to weddings, rehearsals, parties, bar/bat mitzvahs. The invitations asked that you try to wear maroon and gold, the school colors, in the spirit of the event.
When we got to the party we were treated with a tour of the stadium AND we got to play on the field. You might not think that’s a huge deal but where we come from there is NO touching of the field, for any reason what-so-ever, EVER!
I knew it would be impossible to find maroon and gold clothing in summertime so I was just gonna cut some heat transfer out with my silhouette, slap it on a shirt and be done with it. But then, I was walking through Hancock Fabrics and before my very eyes was a bolt of University of Minnesota fabric and it was in the clearance section! I snapped up a yard or so of the material along with a onsie and a white shirt from Old Navy and using this great 10 minute tutorial from Prudent Baby, I whipped up these 2 dresses for my crazies! I also added a rolled rosette to each dress to give it a little something extra! What do you think?

Stacy I’m a Minnesotan through and through so I’m loving your post. Born and raised until I went to college. I only wish I had a reason to go back (my parents have retired to FL), next time I’m coming with you. I love that land of 10,000 lakes and your dresses were too cute.

Like Jaime, I’m a true Minnesota girl! Minus 4 1/2 years while the Air Force took us to Alaska and Arizona, we true Minnesotans at heart and I LOVE those dresses 🙂 I might have to use Twins fabric though 🙂

I am so jealous! I go to U of M and I have yet to have a tour of the stadium. Super cute dresses. You should make a game day dress tutorial for us college girls to wear to football games :]
