This is the hotel we stayed at, Trianon Palace. It has a Gordon Ramsay restaurant inside where the full course of dinner is 193€ per person! Needless to say, we didn’t eat there, we did however have a couple drinks at the bar and ordered some macarons for dessert.
It was a beautifully posh hotel, check out how cool this bathroom tile is!
This was the sidewalk from our hotel into town. Versailles is a beautiful, quaint town, and I would go back and stay there again.
We stopped at a local cafe for lunch on our way to the Palace and my husband made fun of me for taking this photo but I just LOVE how they presented the napkin and silverware. Be prepared to see this at a party soon!
Oh, and the way they served water was too cute, too!
We didn’t tour the palace because there was a CRAZY long line, and, well, it just didn’t interest either of us. The gates were gorgeous as seen in this close up detail photo.
We did however tour the gardens and fountains of the Palace. They were vast and spectacular and some were set to music.
So many paths you could easily get lost, we consulted our map on more than 1 occasion. (You can even rent a golf cart if you can’t walk the entire thing.)
We rowed a boat in the canal on the bottom of the gardens. It was really fun and I would definitely recommend giving it a try in you are in Versailles.
The next morning we took the train back into Paris (about 20 minutes with all the stops) stopped at a museum and then found our way to the old Jewish Quarter for lunch. When in Paris you have to eat fallafel, right? 🙂 This fallafel “stand” had a line all the way down the block and it was well worth the wait!
My fallafel even came with this fancy Marc Jacobs Coca-Cola Light, close enough to Diet Coke for me!
There was a cute cake and cookie shop down the street from the fallafel place and they had all these pre-colored blocks of fondant you could purchase. I wanted them all.
This chocolate store was so beautiful I had to go in (and snap some photos of course).
Can you believe we walked out of this store without buying ANYTHING! That’s what happens when the hubs controls the $$ or € in this case.
The Arc.
Macaron Mecca – Ladurée
We stood in line for about 30 minutes to get our macarons and souvenirs, but it was well worth it.
After a little early dinner at a sidewalk cafe it was time to meet our tour group for our bike tour. We used Fat Tire Bike Tours and took their night tour, which concluded with an hour long cruise on the River Siene. Riding around Paris was a lot crazier than riding around London, but once again it was an amazing way to see the city.
Apparently this is what I looked like on the bike tour. I think taking photos with your arm up is WAY more effective.
Notre Dame Cathedral.
Sea Salt Caramel Ice Cream – a worthy pit stop on our bike tour.

I’m so jealous! This is exactly the trip my husband and I are hoping to go on in a year or so. Thanks for sharing so much about Versailles and for suggesting the bike tours. They sound like so much fun!

I’ve always wanted to go to France and now I almost feel like I’ve been! Everything’s so beautiful there!
